Safe Harbor Eldercare in East Falmouth was established in 2007 as a private homecare agency that is dedicated to helping seniors stay safely at home for as long as they choose.  “Providing compassionate, professional, and affordable homecare is our mission,” says Richard Elliott-Grunes, co-owner of the agency  with his wife, Lauren.  They purchased the company in 2007, when they moved to Cape Cod with their daughter, Katie, to be closer to Lauren’s parents who live in Orleans.  They’ve had double-digit growth for 5 of the last 6 years.

Safe Harbor Eldercare has built its reputation one client at a time and Elliot-Grunes further states:  “We tailor our services to fit our client’s needs. Our goal is to cultivate trusting
relationships with our clients which helps us better understand their challenges, and develop personalized care plans.  It can be very stressful trying to hire someone to care for a loved one.  People worry about losing their autonomy and independence as they get older. There is a lot of
competition, both from other agencies and independent caregivers.  We succeed by offering great customer service, which for us means taking the time to get to know each and every client
personally.”

“We also get to know each caregiver, and hold them to the highest standards.  Our caregivers are the heart and soul of the business, and we only hire people that we would trust to care for our own family. Most of our clients are referred to us by word-of-mouth, so it’s important to do a great job for each and every one of them.  We have some clients that we see for 1 or 2 hours a week, some for 24/7, and everything in between.  They all know they can call us anytime with questions or concerns and we’ll be there.”

“I first came to SCORE in 2006, when we were first exploring purchasing a business,” says Elliott-Grunes.  “They gave me great advice, and afforded me the confidence and courage to take the leap.  Since then, I have come back several times to seek help in continuing to grow.  They are a fantastic resource.”
